These photo zines aren’t new — we have been publishing wedding magazines for couples since 2013, but over the last few years the idea of merging photographs and words to tell a more indepth story of the wedding day has grown exponentially.

Below are some pages from an Elopement Photo Zine we created. This is a personal favourite of ours at The Coffee Table Book for many reasons. Stunning professional photography by Jon Gazzignato that shows not only beautiful photos of the loved-up couple, but the magnificent rustic homestead Thalia Haven and the epic wild coastal landscape of Great Oyster Bay off East Coast Tasmania.
The magazine design started with an acknowledgement to the indigenous land the couple were taking their vows on to set the scene, followed by some landscape photos to really get you situated in the location. Then pages of the couple getting ready in the photogenic stone and wood house and onto the outdoor ceremony where they were joined by their daughter. After that the couples location photoshoot around the property taking in the wild scenic views as the backdrop. Topping of the magical day with a feast in the house kitchen.

What are wedding magazines?
Wedding magazines are an alternative to a traditional wedding album. Often referred to as wedding zines, wedding magazine albums, wedding photo zines or wedding journals.
Where traditional wedding albums have thicker inner pages and a sturdy cover wrapped in either a leather or fabric material and seen as more of an heirloom album made of high quality materials for longevity and to last generations.
Wedding magazines are just that — a coffee table magazine — except full of your digital wedding photos and meaningful wording from your wedding day. The wedding ‘zines are designed in an editorial format with a softcover and photo book quality pages. Over time and repeated flicking through the pages, the likelihood that the magazines will end up with dog-eared corners is a given, but something we feel is part of the character of a coffee table magazine.
Are conventional wedding albums still relevant today?
Conventional wedding albums have definitely evolved over the last 10+ years since the beginning of the digital photography revolution and we can definitely tell you they are still hugely popular.
The Coffee Table Book has been designing wedding albums for couples since 2006 and printing wedding magazines since 2013 and can honestly vouch that couples are still printing their wedding photos in albums.
